Georgia Marie Mccarty

July 21, 1925 — December 6, 2004

Georgia Marie Warren McCarty, 79, of Dixianna Ct., went to be with Jesus Monday, December 6, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in St. Joseph, KY to the late Clarence Anthony Tony Warren and Clara Rosine Long Warren. She retired from Andersons Department Store after many years of service as a seamstress. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and The Daughters of Isabella; she was a promoter of the Miraculous Medal. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1944 and was a lifetime alumni member. She was a KY Colonel, enjoyed working word find puzzles, flower gardening, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Lawrence McCarty, Sr., on April 12, 1993, and a granddaughter, Kendra Lynn McCarty on October 21, 1988.

Survivors include eight children and their spouses; four sons; Frank and Kathleen McCarty of Owensboro, Larry and Judy McCarty of Knottsville, KY, Randy & Judy McCarty of Owensboro, and Kenny and Bonnie McCarty of Sorgho, KY; four daughters, Lorraine and Bob Hayden of Rome, KY, Elaine & Gene Glenn of St. Joseph, KY, Patsy and Mike Wright of Knottsville, KY and Mary M. Dowdy of Maceo, KY. Surviving also are 24 grandchildren; Tammy Wheeler, Robbie and Matt Hayden, Bobby, Jamie and Scott Glenn, Joseph, Mark and Fred Wright, Arlene Ferguson, Stephen, Amber and Daniel McCarty, Stephanie Whitmore, Stacy Campbell, Tonya Kirby, Jody, Chad and Chastity McCarty, Rickey C.R. and Charles Anthony Dowdy, Reesa and Derek McCarty and Megan Jackson; 25 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a special sister, Helen McCarty of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Thursday, December 9, 2004, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church officiated by Father Freddie Byrd; with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, and from 9-11:30 a.m. Thursday, at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. on Wednesday with Daughter of Isabella prayers following at 6 p.m.
