Georgia Christine Martin, 82 of Hall Street, Owensboro, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Magoffin County to the late Kernie and Dora Marie (Scott) Adams. She retired in 1984 as a baker for the Owensboro Board of Education after 15 years, working at Lincoln and Estes Elementary Schools. She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, being outdoors and working with her flowers. Her husband, Carl Jessie Martin preceded her in death in 1986 as well as a son, Gary Curtis Martin in 2003, and three sisters, Irene Paris, Maxine Potts, Billie Brown, brothers, Charles Adams, and Arnold Adams.
Surviving are her children, Carl Jessie (Nellie) Martin Jr., of Owensboro, Michael Wayne (Barbara) Martin, of Madisonville, Jeffrey Lynn Martin, of Owensboro, Donna Kay (Orville) Clater of Maceo, and Ann (Bobby) Back of Burlington, N.C., 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, a sister, Mary Havener of Owensboro, brothers, Donald Adams and Palmer Adams of Owensboro, and Johnny Adams of Henderson, and a daughter-in-law, Gayla Martin of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday.
