George D. Wells

April 11, 1917 — August 30, 2003

George D. Wells, 86 of 642 Fargo St., Owensboro, died Saturday, August 30, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native was retired from Can-Tex where he was a kiln operator. He was a member of Good Shepherd Church; a Kentucky Colonel; and an avid University of Kentucky sports fan. Mr. Wells was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Griffith Wells in 1993 and a brother, J.B. Wells.

He is survived by two sons, Jack Wells and Jim (and Barbara ) Wells both of Owensboro; and a grandson, Keith (and Mandi) Wells of Bowling Green.

Funeral services are 10 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Monday and after 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Kentucky Wesleyan College Scholarship Fund or to the Volunteer Center.
