George Theodore Sook

George Theodore (Ted) Sook, 74, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO after a lengthy battle with heart disease and cancer. He was born July 12, 1938 in Silverton, West Virginia to Richard T. and Gertrude Cox Sook.
Ted graduated from Ravenswood High School in1956 and served 3 years in the 101st Airborne at Ft Campbell, KY. He then attended and played football at Glenville State College in West Virginia. Ted served as a supervisor for Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, West Virginia before moving to Owensboro in 1969. He retired from Commonwealth Aluminum in Lewisport.
Ted was a member of Owensboro Christian Church where he was part of Promise Keepers Sunday School Class and served in the Greeters Ministry. He was an avid sports fan, particularly Kentucky football and basketball. He loved watching his children and grandchildren grow up, travelling, walking, riding his daughter's tractor and thoroughbred horse racing.
He is survived by his wife, Ardean Janice Lindley Sook; children, Doug Sook of Richmond, VA, Bruce Sook (Suzanne), Tony Sook (Cami) and Leslie Watts (Chad) all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Tyler Sook, Copeland Sook, Kelsey Sook, Jesse Sook, Beau Watts, Kate Sook, Georgiana Sook, Lauren Watts, Rebekah Sook, Samuel Sook and Sarah Kate Sook; a brother, Richard H. Sook of Ravenswood, WV; a sister, Jean Ann Casto (Dan) of Homestead, FL and beloved dog Dixie.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 25 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-8 PM and on Monday after 8:30 AM at the funeral home.
