George David Quinn

George David Quinn, Machinist Mate, US Navy, Retired, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born April 1, 1922 in Nicholasville, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Verna Grimes Quinn; was a Pearl Harbor survivor and Navy retiree; and retired from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) where he was the security supervisor. He completed his degree in Law Enforcement at EKU and was a KY Colonel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Quinn McLaney Edwards and brothers, Robert O. Quinn and William W. Quinn.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Darlene Cronk Quinn; a sister, Ann Quinn (and Wes) Lyle of Pittsburg, PA;
children, Mariann Quinn (Tom Patterson) of Cincinnati, OH, Colleen (and David) Taylor of Owensboro, and Master Chief Petty Officer David (Rene') Quinn of Covington, TN; grandchildren, George Nathaniel Taylor, Shane David Quinn (and Dominique Zeringue), Corporal Chance Zachary (and Sara) Quinn, and Emily Mariann Taylor; a great-grandchild, Skye Quinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 4 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Harry Spurrier officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service.
