George David Prather

March 10, 1930 — March 9, 2010

George David Prather (Shag) 79, of Owensboro passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on March 10, 1930 in New Albany, IN, was a former employee of Green River Steel and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed visits from his many friends, spending time with his children and grandchildren, UK Basketball and horse racing. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marshall and Edith Mae Hoffman Prather; a sister, Audrey Lee Alvey and two brothers, William Marshall Prather and James Edward Prather.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Anna C. Prather; a son, Jeff Prather; daughters, Terry Wagner and her husband Mark and Lorrie Jean Bartlett; grandchildren, Aaron Prather, Meagen Wagner, Felicia Bartlett, Brandon Bartlett and Angelia Prather; brothers, Bobby Prather and Ellis Prather and his wife Shirley; sister, Betty Harding and her husband Dan and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Dennis McFadden officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church or the charity of ones choice.
