George Paul Mattingly

December 7, 1916 — March 2, 2004

George Paul G. P. Mattingly, Jr., 87, of the Carmel Home, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the Carmel Home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. and was retired from Public Relations with the Executive Inn Rivermont after 18 years. He also had been a sales representative with the Federal Produce Co. in Evansville, In., a former member of the Elks Club, and had served on the Board of Directors of the Owensboro Tourist Commission. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people and had a keen memory for names and numbers. He was a great storyteller and never met a stranger. He also loved all types of sporting events. He was the son of the late George Paul Peter Paul and Georgia Mattingly, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph A. Buck Mattingly and Hulin Mattingly.
Surviving is his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Dr. Neil Padgett of Owensboro and his son and daughter-in-law, George P. Pete and Willa Mattingly III of Redington Beach, Fl., 2 sisters, Mary Lois Knott and Thelma Massie, both of Owensboro, 3 grandchildren, Ashley Padgett of San Diego, Ca., Justin Mattingly of Sulpher Spring, Tx., and Leigh Anne Terry of Owensboro, and a great grandchild, Vivian Grace Terry of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 5, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M.Friday at the funeral home.
