George David Lee

George D. Lee, Sr., 72, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born October 24, 1935 to the late David F. and Richie Tyler Lee in Daviess County. He retired from MPD, was a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and member of the VFW, American Legion, Am-Vets and a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed traveling, and was a former District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Wink Lee in 1996.

Survivors include his companion, Debbie Russelburg; his sons, David Lee, Jr. and Donald A. Lee, his daughters, Stacy J. Lee and Yvonne Lee Rudy, and her husband, John, all of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren, Jared, Jennifer and Jamie Lee, Tiffany Duke, Morgan, John David and Griffin Rudy, Korina, Christian and Parker Lee; one great-granddaughter, Halle Duke; a sister, Sue Gatewood of Owensboro.

Services will be 3:30 PM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Glenville Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, and after 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be given at the cemetery by VFW Post 696.
