George Levy Lanham III, 72, of Owensboro left us on Thanksgiving morning November 28th, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. The oldest of four, George was born on August 21, 1952 in Owensboro to the late George Levy Lanham Jr. and Mary Wayne Hardy Lanham.
George was a drill sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves for eight years. He started his career at Owensboro Aviation thanks to L.S. Cox. For 51 years he was a corporate/charter pilot who flew for numerous companies, most recently for Wheels Up Inc. until the time of his death. George’s favorite ride was the fastest corporate jet, the Cessna Citation X. A graduate of Owensboro High School, Class of 1970, George continued his education as he earned a multitude of equipment certifications for various aircrafts.
George loved being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Enjoyed traveling the world and visiting new places with his wife. George loved his family cookouts, pool parties, birthdays and decorating for Halloween and Christmas.
A hectic house was a happy house.
