George S. Henry, Sr., of 530 Yale Place, Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born September 1, 1923 to the late Leonard Frank and Martha Gilbert Henry in Chester County, PA. He retired from the dry cleaning business, was an Army Veteran of WW II and a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He loved his family, his grandchildren and his pets. He also was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Virginia A. Henry; two sons, George Henry, Jr. of Owensboro and Wayman Henry of Livermore; three daughters, Peggy Wethington and her husband, Gerald of Reynolds Station, Becky Wilson and her husband, Larry of Sebree, Ruth Hudson and her husband, Donnie of Sacramento; eight grandchildren, Sandra Boyken, Jennifer Kendall, Jeremy Henry, Larry, and Barry Wilson, David Hudson, Wayman Henry, Jr. and Sherry Henry, one step-granddaughter Michelle Byrd; three great-grandchildren, Blake Henry, Ashley and Bailey Hudson; two step-great granddaughters Nicole and Amanda Byrd; one sister, Lenore Huff of Louisville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Sacramento. Visitation will be 5:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday and after 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church, 2805 West 4th Street, Owensboro, KY, 42301.
