George Alexander Hendry

George Alexander Hendry, Sr., 92, of 2320 Cedar Street, Owensboro, died Monday, September 9, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Hardinsburg, Kentucky on August 5, 1910 the son of Winford Scott and Myrna Cashman Hendry. His wife, Katherine Hendry, preceded him in death in 1981.

Mr. Hendry worked at Velvet Milk Company in the sales and delivery department. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Teamsters union. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, fixing things and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, James L. Hendry, Sr., of Arcadia, IN and George Alexander Hendry, Jr. of Nashville; two daughters, Myrna Dantic of Owensboro and Marty Good of Millen, GA; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary H. Brown and Mattie Lee Staples, both of Cloverport.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Charles Bennett. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. His family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2002 and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
