George Estil Henderson

George Estil Henderson, 85, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at his home. He was born May 13, 1930 in Butler Co., to the late Isum and Corda Ann Phelps Henderson. George was retired from Owensboro Municipal Utilities as Chief Water Plant Operator and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he had been a deacon for many years. He also had owned and operated Henderson Service Co. which installed and repaired gas grills. George was known as the "Grill Man". He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Henderson on January 18, 2000, a sister, Goren Phelps, and two brothers, Orville and Justis Henderson.

Surviving are his wife, Vida Henderson, his son, Estil Dewayne Henderson of Ohio Co., his daughter, Martha Dianne Cox and husband Bruce of Philpot, a stepson, Gary Lee and wife Angie of Morgantown, a stepdaughter, Sandy Vinson and husband Steve of Morgantown, three grandchildren, Katie Pate and husband Cody of Ohio Co., Angela Durbin of Owensboro, and Melissa Cox and fiancé Chad Kindle of Philpot, three great grandchildren, Hope Durbin, and Callie and Gracie Kindle, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and two sisters, Wavie Fishburn and Norma Young, both of Morgantown.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 3, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with private entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the 3rd floor nurses at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and to Amanda, his favorite nurse for all the love and compassionate care they gave him.
