George Allen Estes

December 13, 1930 — July 2, 2018

George Allen Estes, 87, of Henderson passed away Monday July 2, 2018 at his home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice. George was born December 13, 1930 in Maceo to the late Albert "Pop" Littleton Estes and Lillian "Mom" Grace Estes. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict assigned to the heavy cruiser USS Helena (CA-75). George's love and passion was for thoroughbred racing. He spent his life in a career as a successful thoroughbred owner and trainer.

George is also preceded in death by his four brothers, W.R. Estes, Bill Estes, Albert "Ab" Estes, and Samuel Estes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his best friend and lifelong companion, Geraldine "Jerri" Williams of Henderson; two daughters, Mitzi Hall Sumner (Terry) of Henderson and Jessica Cooper Lanham (Lee) of Owensboro; four grandsons, Lucas Sumner, Clayton Lanham, Noah Lanham, and Jacob Lanham; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Storm (Randall) of Owensboro and Shirley Dean Prather (Ellis) of Maceo; several nieces and nephews.

The family plans to have a private Celebration of Life service.
