George Ellis Cravens

September 18, 1918 — January 14, 2005

George Ellis Cravens, of Owensboro died Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home. Born September 18, 1918, Mr. Cravens was a native of Daviess County, the son of the late, Elbert G. and Bessie Mae Morris Cravens. He retired in 1981 as a meat cutter for Kroger. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, former member of the Ensor Lodge F& AM, and an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, farming, hunting, and his old dog Liz, and loved his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Cravens, Junius Cravens and William Cravens.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Melvina Adkison Cravens; two sons, Kenny Cravens of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and John Cravens of Owensboro; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Lively and Linda Carol Lashbrook both of Owensboro; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Gladys Morgan of Dayton, OH, Patsy Miller of Vandalia, OH, and Mary V. Swanson of Richmond, IN.

Funeral services are 2:30 p. m. Monday, January 14, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 t o6 p.m. on Sunday and after 11 a.m.on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Inc. Memorial Fund, or the Building Fund of Owensboro Christian Church.
