Gary L. Montgomery

Gary L. Montgomery passed away on October 29, 2023, in Owensboro, Kentucky, at the age of 70. He was born on August 8, 1953, to Joseph and Geneva Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clint Montgomery along with his mother and father-in-law, William and Nila Dickens.

God and family were most important to Gary.  He loved the time spent with his grandkids and enjoyed turning a simple cookout into a memorable experience for family and friends.  Gary was a genuine friend and had a desire to ensure everyone’s heart was connected to the Lord.  He was gentle in his guidance and encouraging with his words. 

Gary dedicated over three decades to Big Rivers Electric where he retired as a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and supported the University of Kentucky sports.  Gary also enjoyed traveling and was an all-around craftsman. 

Gary is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Tammy Montgomery; children, Adam (Andra) Montgomery, Amber (Sukhbir) Grewal, and Tyler (Chelsea) Montgomery; grandchildren, Brooke (Chase) Arthur, Ayla Montgomery, Aubree McKinney, Cooper Montgomery, Hadley Montgomery, and Navy Grewal; great-grandchildren, Noralee Arthur and Olive Arthur; brothers, Tony (Judy) Montgomery, Wayne (Donna) Montgomery, Jim (Vivian) Montgomery, and Martin (Sheila) Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Janie Montgomery and Debbie Abney (Jeremy), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Owensboro Christian Church with entombment following at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.
