Gary Wayne Cox

Gary Wayne Cox, born July 29, 1957, in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Margaret Cox Moseley and Andrew Jackson Cox. Gary went to be with his momma in the heavens above on Saturday, December 7, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.

Gary loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. He enjoyed racing RC and slot cars with his buddies every Wednesday. He had a love for animals, from his cats and dogs to the horses that he liked to ride during his days on the farm. Gary also cherished his time camping and fishing with his family.

He attended Owensboro High School before joining the Army National Guards in 1976 where he proudly served 6 years. He retired from Irving Materials Incorporated (IMI) previously Transit Mix Concrete after 44 years of hard work and dedication.

When his children were growing up Gary spent many hours volunteering to coach. When he was not on the sidelines coaching, he was always the proud dad cheering from the stands or walking the field to get closer to the action.

Gary is proceeded in death by his father, his stepfather John Mosley and his mom he dearly loved, his sister Patsy Newman, his brothers James Roger Cox and Billy G. Cox.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Cox; his children Kim McDaniel (Brian) of Louisville, Josh Cox (Danielle) of Lexington, Stepson Jordan Michael Osteen of Owensboro; brothers Lee Cox, Darrell Cox (Paula) of Reynolds Station and several nieces and nephews he treasured spending time with.

Gary will always be remembered for his big heart, helping hands, and everlasting love for his family and friends. We were truly blessed to be in the presences of such a caring man.

The funeral service for Gary will be 12 PM Wednesday, December 11, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
