Mr. Frederick William Herman, 69, of 2930 Tanglewood Dr., Owensboro, died Monday, April 9, 2001 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. A native of Dearborn, MI, he retired from the United States Postal Service after more than 30 years as a Letter Carrier and Business Agent for the National Association of Letter Carriers in Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was the Chairman of the Worship and Outreach Committees and active in the Senior Citizens Group; was a member of the Friends of Children at the Mary Kendall Home; a Kentucky Colonel, Duke of Paducah; and an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Smith Herman, in 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Bonnie Blue Herman, a son, Fred William Herman of Waterloo, SC, two daughters, Kathleen Sparks and Gayle Herman of South Bend, IN, a stepson, Joe Dunlap, Jr., of Dawson Springs, three stepdaughters, Jenny L. Campbell and Dora Hudson of Calhoun, and Cheri Searcy of Owensboro, 19 grandchildren, a brother, Richard Herman of Redford, MI, and 3 sisters, Marlene Petrillo of Sylvania, OH, Dorothy Gilbert of Milan, OH, and Margaret Dietz of Denver, CO.
Funeral services are 11 A.M., Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 and after 9 A.M. on Thursday.
Graveside services at Mt. Home Cemetery in Kalamazoo, MI will be Saturday, April 14, 2001 at 11 A.M. The family will receive friends at the Beltzer Funeral Home in Kalamazoo after 9 A.M. on Saturday.
