Frederic C. Park

Frederic C. Park, Jr., 86, of 2214 St. James Court, Owensboro, died Friday, November 17, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Modesto, CA, a son of the late Frederic C. Sr. and Betty Rousseau Park Hanger, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Mens Bible Class, a Mason and 50 year Shriner, and a member of the P. U. Band. Mr. Park served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II, logging more than 750 hours flying the infamous Hump in the China, Burma, and India Theatre. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with oak leaf clusters. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Park.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jeanne Gasser Park; his son, Dr. Frederic C. Park, III and his wife Dolores, of Owensboro; his daughter, Candace Purdom and her husband Robert, or Perryville, KY; his grandsons, William M. Andrews, Jr. of Georgetown, David Purdom of Louisville, and Zachary Park and Eric Park, both of Owensboro; his step grandchildren, Bryan Chaney, serving in Afghanistan, and Brandon Chaney of Owensboro; his great-grandchildren, Will Andrews, Elena Andrews, and Charlie Andrews, all of Georgetown; and his brother, Jack Park of Bakersfield, CA.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
