Freda Lee Wemes, 79, of 820 Bolivar Street, was called home to be with Jesus, Wednesday, July 27th, 2005, at her residence. She was a native of Gauley Bridge, WV. , had been a waitress at the Executive Inn for 20 years , attended Good Shepherd Church, and loved playing bingo, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Alva and Almida Coleman Miller ,a son, Michael John Parker in 1990, and her husband, Wilbur C. Wemes in 1995.
Survivors include five daughters, Freda Turner of Nitro WV, Wanda Toney of Owensboro, Linda Jo Brown of LasVegas, NV, Janet Heitz Thurman of Hardinsburg, KY, and Misha Byers of Owensboro; one son, Leonard Will Heitz of Owensboro; two sisters, Irene Walker of Brunswick, OH and Lorena Lilly of Beckley, WV; one brother Edward Miller of Gauley Bridge, WV; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 31st at 2 p.m. in Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 30th and after noon on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sorgho Baptist Church Cemetery.
