Fred Jerry Whitaker, 72, of 911 East Ninth Street, Owensboro, KY, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Daviess County, served his country in the Air Force, and was employed as a bail bondsman. Fred was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, enjoyed watching NASCAR, horse racing and being with his family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Starr Halko and her husband Rick of Pasadena, TX and Sharon Ann Vasquez and her husband Angelo Vasquez of Owensboro, KY; a brother-in-law, Cecil Lee Newton of Owensboro; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 21 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace in Rosehill Cemetery. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery next to his wife Lillian M. Whitaker, who preceded him in death in March of 1999.
