Fred Whitman Tolin

Fred Whitman Tolin, 72, of 3161 Spring Run, Owensboro, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2003, at his home. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa.and was retired as an Electrical Engineer from U. S. Steel and National Southwire Aluminum Co. He also had worked for Western Ky. Gas Co. He was a graduate of Penn State University, was a past President and current board member of Habitat for Humanity, a Boy Scout District Commissioner, Ky. Colonel, member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an active member of First Baptist Church having served as a Sunday School teacher and church administrator. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Tolin in 1995.
Surviving is his wife of 5 years, Carolyn Miles Tolin, a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Fredrik P. and Susan Reissig Tolin of Chicago, IL. A daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jean and W. Shane Wilson of Owensboro, 2 stepdaughters and a son-in-law, Dawn & Josh Lambert of Owensboro, and Gretchen Thomas of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and 3 Grandchildren, Fredrik Whitman Tolin and Emma Reissig Tolin, both of Chicago, and William Hayden Wilson of Owensboro.
Services will be 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with entombment following in the Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 16, and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
