Franklin Paris, Sr., 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Owensboro Center. He was born May 24, 1917 in Ohio Co. to the late John Morgan and Ermine Harris Paris. He was retired from the Green Coal Co. as a heavy equipment operator after 30 years of service. He was a member of Harvest Temple Baptist Church. He also had done some house painting, was a dairyman, coal miner, done some civil service work, and had worked on Hoover Dam when it was being constructed. Franklin was also preceded in death by his wife, Melba A. Nichols Paris; a son, Paul Paris on March 26, 1996, two brothers, Albert and Morton Paris, and two sons-in-law, Ray Vanover and Harvey Owen.

Surviving are five daughters, Margaret E. Goldman and husband Ken of Duncanville, TX, Fanny Ruth Vanover of Brandenburg, Priscilla J. Bartlett and Elizabeth Fonda Owen, both of Winfield, AL, and Dyann Manion and husband Bob of Owensboro, two sons, Franklin Paris, Jr. and wife Brenda of Friendship, TN and Jerry Lynn Paris and wife Helen of Azle, TX, 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, a sister, Fanny Crowe of Owensboro, and a daughter-in-law, Janet Paris of Philpot.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 31, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
