Franklin A. "Tink" Gillim, 88, of Owensboro, Ky. died at home on January 26, 2010 surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born in Ensor, Ky. on June 6, 1921 to the late Simon Gillim and Sarah Bell Gillim. He was a retired G. E. employee and farmer. He was an avid story-teller, hunter, logger, craftsman and tinker. He was a member of South Hampton Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army and was highly rated as an expert marksman. He enjoyed bowling with the "Old Bucks" in the Senior League, billiards, U. K. basketball, feeding and observing wildlife, gardening, helping neighbors, woodworking, fixing machinery, and spending time with dear friends and beloved family.
Mr. Gillim was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Virginia Hale Gillim (July 1977) and his son, John Franklin Gillim (May 1985), two brothers, Urey Lee Gillim and Hugh Wendell Gillim, and a sister, Mary Beverly Gillim. He is survived by his children, Vickie G. Wilmouth (James) of Tampa, Florida, and Connie Gillim Hughes (Thomas) of Dublin, Ohio; five grandchildren, Shannon Leah Wilmouth Welch, Lindsay Ann Wilmouth, Sarah M. Gillim Hofstetter, Jonathon Luke Gillim, and Sean Thomas Hughes; and six great-grandchildren, Camden James Welch, Gavin Miles Welch, Egan Hofstetter, Max Hofstetter, Zeke Hofstetter and Bailey Gillim, and his beloved sister Marjorie Swope.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, and after 9:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
