Frank X. Wathen, Sr. 80, of 5346 Wayne Bridge Road, Owensboro, died Friday, August 1, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. and was retired from Baskin-Robins Co. after 40 years. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and enjoyed raising a garden, hunting, and spending time with family and friends . He formerly was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Marie Weise Wathen, on March 17, 1996, a son, Billy Wathen in 1992, a daughter, Janet Fay Peak in 1999, a son, Frank X. Wathen, Jr. on Oct. 11, 2002, and a sister, Bernice Connor.
Surviving are 4 daughters and sons- in-law, Carol & Tom Ruxer, Joyce Wathen, Connie & Wayne Fairchild, all of Owensboro, and Pat Edgell of Stanley, 2 Sisters, Ruby Murphy of Stanley, Becky Mann of Owensboro, a brother, Joseph A. Wishie Wathen of Stanley, and 5 Grandchildren, Jennifer Edgell Smith and Josh Fairchild, both of Owensboro, and Melissa, Jeremy, and Justin Edgell, all of Stanley.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 4, at Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial following in St. Anthonys Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 3, and after 8:00 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
