Frank Schadler, Jr., 75, of 5479 Curdsville-Delaware Road, Owensboro, died peacefully at home, with his family around him, May 7, 2006. The Daviess County native was born May 27, 1930 to Frank Schadler, Sr. and Carrie Froelich Schadler, who preceded him in death.
Frank is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris Mattingly Schadler; two sons, Frank Schadler III and his wife Judy, and Greg Schadler and his wife Debbie, all of Curdsville; four daughters, Laure Schadler of Richmond, KY, Jane Leach and her fiancJeff Hansford, of Calhoun, Suzann Millay and her husband Tony, of Owensboro, and Karla High and her husband Robert, of Fancy Farm; 16 grandchildren, Crystal, Bridget, Sherri, Nick, Jessie, Zach, Seth, and Allie Schadler; Aaron Leach; Adam, Sarah, Rebecca, and Jared Millay; and Brandon, Maegan, and Erika High; and three sisters, Barbara Thompson and Mary Jo Schadler, both of Owensboro, and Theresa Wernert of Louisville.
Frank was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and a graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School and Brescia College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a 50-year member of the American Legion. A life-long farmer and Democrat of Daviess County, he was a partner and director of Ag Spectrum Corporation, Spectrum Investments, and Equity Tobacco Warehouse; an active member of the Cursillo movement for many years; and served on the Kentucky State Fair Board, Kentucky Grain Insurance Board, National Farmers Organization, Cardinal Federal Savings and Loan Board of Directors, Owensboro Catholic Cemetery Board, as a Director of the Owensboro-Daviess County Airport Board, and the Daviess County Democratic Executive Committee.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers and shared memories of Frank will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Resurrection, officiated by the Rev. Richard Powers, will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Curdsville, with burial following at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Building Fund or The Schadler Baseball Field at the Brescia Sports Complex.
