Frank R. Parks, 85, of 2425 Yewells Landing S., Owensboro, Ky., formerly of Kettering, OH, died November 15, 2006 at his home. He was born February 5, 1921 in Lexington, KY to the late Frank R. and Lula Davis Parks. He was a graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington and the University Of Kentucky College Of Engineering with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He was student manager of the UK football team in 1942 and remained a loyal supporter of UK and its athletic programs. Later in his life, he was named a Kentucky Colonel. Upon graduation from UK, he began his career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Semiconductor Division, and retired in 1984 after 41 years of service. While living in Kettering, he was involved in various community activities which included being an active member and deacon of Linden Avenue and Far Hills Baptist churches, Boy Scout leader, youth baseball and volunteering at the Kettering Medical Center from 1991-1999. He served on the school board of Kettering, OH, city schools from 1966-1977, was president of the board 3 years and was inducted into the Chester A. Roush Education Hall of Fame in 1995. Mr. Parks and his wife moved to Owensboro, KY in 2000. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Owensboro, where he served as a deacon, was named deacon emeritus, was active in the senior adult group and a member of the Beacon Sunday school class.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret Drake Parks; two sons and their wives, Barry (Barby) Parks, of Destin, FL, and Roger (Georgina) Parks, of Alexandria, VA; one daughter and her husband, Lee (Denny) Waldroup of Owensboro; two granddaughters, Kelly (Bill) Shiell of Knoxville, TN, and Kimberly Parks of Lewisville, TX; two grandsons, Andy (Dana) Waldroup of Nicholasville, KY, and Eric Waldroup of Lexington, KY; one great-grandson, Parker Shiell of Knoxville, TN; one sister and her husband, Almira Parks (John) Anderson of Kingsport, TN; five nephews and two nieces.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. CST on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Owensboro. Visitation will be from 4:00 8:00 p.m. CST Friday, November 17, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, KY at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. on Monday, November 20, 2006.
