Frank Augustus Johnston Sr., 80, passed away June 29, 2017 while in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Frank was born December 1, 1936 in McLean County to the late Claude and Sybl Rudd Johnston. He graduated from McLean Co. High School in 1955 and earned a business degree at Kentucky Wesleyan College. While there, he met Mary Loretta Goetz and on September 12, 1957, they became husband and wife. Frank worked his entire career in the retail grocery industry. He was passionate about his work and truly cared about his customers, coworkers, and business associates. Frank retired from Winkler Wholesale Grocers in 2004. He enjoyed being outdoors and keeping his cars clean and in order. Frank loved playing golf and even had a hole-in-one. He loved his family and had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joan Lee and Mary Shourds.
Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Loretta; daughters, Rebecca (Barry) Bowman, Fran (Keith) Limbach; son, Frank (Amy) Johnston Jr.; grandchildren, Ashley, Travis, Katie, Kelsey, Victoria, Jared and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Riley and Jacob.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
