Francis B. Slaton

Francis B. Slaton, 84, of The Carmel Home, died there Friday, August 8, 2008. Born in Daviess County, a daughter of the late Samuel Payne and Mary Bell Bowlds, she was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Walker "C.W." Tong and Jess S. Slaton, her daughter, Mary Jane Tong, a grandson, Michael Tong, Jr., and a great-grandson, Markee J. Slaton.

Survivors include her sons, Charlie (Beth) Tong, Mike Tong, Steve (Sally) Tong, Danny (Regina) Tong, Wayne (Kim) Tong, and Johnny (Kimberly) Slaton, all of Owensboro; her 22 grandchildren, David Tong, Jeremy Tong, Chris Tong, Misty Tong, Tonya Tong, Steve Tong, Jr., Christa Settles, Stephanie Tong, Danny Tong, Jr., Jason Earl Tong, Lee Anna Smith, Shelly Tong, Wayne Daugherty, Matthew Merritt, Jacob Merritt, Kathy Tong, Laurie Tong, Jennifer Deno, John Slaton, Jr., Jesse Slaton, Josh Hale, and Jessica Hale; her 62 great grandchildren; her sisters Cecelia Patton and Clarie Patton, and her brother Buck Payne.

Services, officiated by the Rev. Carl McCarthy, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation at Glenn Funeral Home will be from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
