Frances Wilhoyte Rowland

Frances Wilhoyte Rowland, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on January 3, 1924 in Prospect, KY in Oldham Co. to the late Robert Lee and Rebecca Thomas Wilhoyte. She was a long standing member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and was retired from teaching in the Daviess Co. School System. Before moving to Owensboro, she taught one year in LaGrange, KY and then retired after 12 years at Daviess Co. Middle School in 1978. Frances was a gracious and caring person, always interested in people and their lives. She relished staying connected to her never ending circle of friends and family. Many knew her for her wonderful smile and infectious laugh, and for her letters, phone calls and notes of encouragement; she was truly full of life and God's love for others. She was a longtime 4-H Leader in Daviess Co. and loved all types of flowers and making beautiful arrangements with them. Frances graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1947 and that is where she met her husband Russell.

Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, D. Russell Rowland, two sons, Byron Rowland and wife Judy of Maceo and Wesley Rowland of Visalia, CA, two daughters, Rachel Wagner and husband David of Bixby, OK and Nancy Aure and husband Tim of Cottage Grove, WI, 10 grandchildren, Ethan, Gretchen, and Anna Wagner, and Jared, Seth, David, Rebecca, Hannah, Grace, and Lauren Aure, a step grandchild, Christine Midkiff, four great grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Wilhoyte of Waterville, OH.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, at Yellow Creek Baptist Church with burial following in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.
