Floyd C. Philpot

Floyd C. Philpot, 94, of One Park Place, Owensboro, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Rose Burton Philpot. He was a 1934 graduate of Whitesville High School. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church where he had served as deacon and usher and was very active in the Senior Adult Ministry. The first 45 years of Floyd's life were spent at Karns Grove Baptist Church where he was ordained a deacon and was the superintendent of Sunday School. He was retired from General Electric after 37 years and had worked at Castlen Realty for 12 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Beulah Melhiser Philpot in 2004, and his brother, Robert A. "Bob" Philpot in 2008.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Carol P.and John Hooker of Louisville and Kaye P.and Bob Graham of Owensboro, grandchildren and spouses, Ken & Nannette Hooker of Louisville, Jan & Keith Fetzer of Louisville, and Eric Graham of Owensboro, great grandchildren, John L. and Joseph Hooker and Lauren and Luke Fetzer, all of Louisville, a sister-in-law, Audileen Philpot of Owensboro, and a double cousin, Maurice Burton of Owensboro.

Services are 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 3, in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Paul Strahan officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Floyd was a devoted and faithful servant to his Lord and his family, always showing unfailing love and support. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care he received from the caregivers at Comfort Keepers.
