Floy Duane Bivins

Floy Duane Bivins, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born December 23, 1940 in Evansville, IN to the late Willie and Viva Moore. Duane was retired as an office assistant for Doctors Duncan and Ann Johnson. She held a degree as a medical office secretary. She also had worked for a number of years with the Daniel Pitino Shelter and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Duane enjoyed working crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Duane is now together again with the first and only love of her life, her husband John Allen Bivins. They were introduced through mutual friends and in only two weeks, were married and were together for 50 years. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Moore.

Surviving are her children, Derek Bivins and girlfriend Lee Ann King of Owensboro and Rodney Bivins and girlfriend Sharon Hayes of San Clemente CA, Crystal Howell and husband Jim of Fishers, IN and Robin Merritt and husband Scott of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Payton Merritt and MacKenzie Merritt, both of Owensboro, Nathen Bivins and fiancé Kasey Westerfield of Owensboro, Kelsey Bivins and fiancé Mark Cecil of Maceo, Melissa Hatfield of Indianapolis, IN, Julie Hill and husband Rob of Azle, TX, Cody Bivins and Hannelore Bivins, both of Columbia, S.C., seven great grandchildren, a brother, Terry Moore and wife Gay of Nashville, TN, a sister-in-law, Shirley Bivins of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. Visitation will begin at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
