Florence Sodona Hemingway

April 18, 1913 — June 5, 2006

Florence Hemingway, 93, of Tell City, died there Monday, June 5, 2006 at Beverly Health Care. Born in Whitesville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Albert and Anna Bartlett Spurrier, Mrs. Hemingway retired from General Electric and devoted her time to her family, travel, and her pets. She was preceded in death by her husband George Murphy Hemingway in 1990; two daughters, Doris Jean Lee and Janice Elaine Hemingway; two sisters, Carmen Jones and Clarice Roach; and a brother, Attrue Spurrier.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy C. Brune and her husband Gene of Tell City and Landa Kaye Guild and her husband Scott, of Scottsville, AZ; her grandchildren, Jerry Smith of Pellville, Kim Taul of Tell City, Jason Smith of Danville, IN, Stuart Guild of San Antonio, and Christy Haller of Lewisport; 12 great-grandchildren and I great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews, including Faye Olson of Evansville, Alfred Jones of Owensboro, and Mildred Sylvia of Covina, CA.

Services are at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
