Florence Catherine Brown, 91, of Maceo, passed away October 25, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born January 11, 1933, in Daviess County to the late Tom and Gertrude Edge Mills. Florence worked at General Electric and later turned her focus towards her family and remained a caregiver in the home. She was an avid U.K. fan. Florence loved to cook for anyone who came through her door and made the best chocolate chip cookies and biscuits around. She deeply cared for each person she met. Florence’s children were her whole life, yet she was also known by many others as “Mom” and “Mamaw.” Florence was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Lee Brown; brothers, John, Joseph, Herman, George, Ora, and Archie Mills along with an infant brother, and sisters, Jean Varble, Maryann Mayfield, Ellen Roby, and Betty Poole.
She is survived by her children, Diane (David) Stallings, Larry Brown, Steve (Joy) Brown, Debbie (Kevin) Smith, David (Robin) Brown, Tommy (Susan) Brown, Joey (Denise) Brown, Connie (David) Boehman, and Ricky Brown; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and sisters, Rose Wall and Margaret Boarman.
The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
