Fern Mercer Fowler, 83, of Owensboro passed away on April 14, 2012 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Mrs. Fowler was born in Meade County on June 19, 1928 the daughter of the late William J. Mercer and Milady Royalty Mercer. She was preceded in death by her brother William Ellis Mercer in 1994.
Fern was a charter member of the Southside Wesleyan Church in Owensboro where she taught the Junior's Sunday school class for 40 years, she loved to garden, sew, bake, read, take care of people, but most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ed of Owensboro, two daughters, Leanne Thompson (Mike) of Richland, IN, Linda Glore (Keith) of Owensboro, one son Rev. John Fowler (Joanne) of Owensboro, "adopted" son, Anthony Tate of Owensboro, one sister Deanie Johnson of Owensboro, one brother D.L. Mercer of Philpot, granddaughter, Danielle Williams (Brad) of Evansville, IN, two grandsons, Jeremiah and Joshua Fowler of Owensboro, step-granddaughters, Brittany and Ashlyn Glore of Charlotte, NC.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fowler will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday April 18, 2012 in the chapel of the Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. David Mercer officiating with burial to follow in the Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 17, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until the service hour on Wednesday.
Memorial donations can be made to the Southside Wesleyan Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
