Fannie Gertrude Nixon Howard Crabtree became heaven's newest angel on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Fannie was born in Muhlenberg County, KY on January 21, 1924 to the late James "Boe" and Birchie Hill Nixon.
Aside from her loving parents she is preceded in death by her two husbands James Elmer Howard who passed away in 1978 and John Zelbert Crabtree who passed away in 2006.
Fannie was a member of 1st General Baptist Church for over 50 years. Faith, family and friendship took the highest priority in Fannie's life. She always put her children first and was willing to help anyone who needed it. She was truly a selfless person. All will remember her as an avid UK Basketball Fan. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards with her friends. Above everything else Fannie enjoyed spending time with her family;her grandchildren affectionately named her "Memaw".
She is survived by her loving son; Gerald Howard and his wife Karen of Maceo, her two daughters; Brenda Walker and her husband Harry of Owensboro and Carolyn Glenn of Owensboro, her stepdaughter; Glenda Boler of Cottonwood, AZ and her sister Mattie Hammack and husband Louis of Owensboro. She is survived by 9 grandchildren; Richard Glenn and his wife Beck of Owensboro, Jason Howard and Justin Howard both of Owensboro, Sarah Glenn Combs and husband Fred of Portland, TN, Nicholas Walker of Owensboro, Jeff Barr and his wife Katie of Owensboro, Kimberly Collignon and her husband Jason of Evansville, IN, Adam Coomes of Owensboro, Haley Bennett and her husband Keith of Maceo. Fannie also leaves behind 9 Great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, November 9, 2012 at First General Baptist Church in Owensboro with pastor Dale Hartlien officiating services. Interment to follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00 until 8:00PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 1:00PM at the church on Friday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First General Baptist Church building fund.
