F. Wayne “Kooter” Shouse, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born July 12, 1951 in Daviess County to the late Ferman and Margaret Young Shouse. Wayne had retired as a truck driver for Don Buchanan Trucking, was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, and had served in the Army National Guard for six years. He enjoyed drag racing having raced at Windy Hollow Raceway and working on cars. He also enjoyed fishing, his dogs, and especially loved his family very much. Wayne was also preceded in death by a brother, Ferman “Jim” Shouse in 2020.
Surviving are his wife of eight years, June Phelps Shouse; two sons, Nathan (Laura) Shouse of Nashville, Tennessee and Damien (Jessie) Shouse of Mt. Union, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; six stepchildren, Marisa (Chad) Maggard of Masonville, Ryan Gordon of Owensboro, Matthew Shelton of Owensboro, Jason (Loretta) Iler of Beaver Dam, Misty (David) Embry of Horse Branch, and April (Robbie) Cardwell of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Karen Weakley and Ellie Cameron, both of Owensboro; two brothers, Rev. Allen Shouse of Owensboro and John (Lynn) Shouse of Bowling Green; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation from 2 PM until 7 PM Friday, January 26 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
