F. Rebecca Barnes

F. Rebecca Barnes, 90, of Owensboro, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Braden, Tennessee to the late Ulric and Mary Edwards.

Rebecca was a dedicated homemaker and a member of Settle Memorial Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and volunteered with the Owensboro-Daviess County Humane Society and the Wendell Foster Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Truman Barnes in 2008 and two brothers, Paul and Floyd Edwards.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by a daughter, Glenda Gerteisen (Bill) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Stefanie Gerteisen of Bowling Green and Jennifer Cunningham (Patrick) of Lexington, KY; great grandchildren, Karina Rose and Liam Robert Cunningham; and a sister, Laverne "Bernie" Whiteside of Owensboro.

The funeral service will be held at 1PM on Friday, September 27 at Christ Chapel in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, followed by entombment. Mrs. Barnes requested that there not be a public visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Owensboro Daviess County Humane Society or Wendell Foster Campus for Developmentally Disabled.
