Ezra Ray Newton

August 31, 1923 — April 14, 2001

Ezra ''Ray'' Newton, 77, of 1224 W. 1st St, died, Saturday, April 14, 2001 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. A native of Daviess County, he retired from the L&N Railroad as an Operator and was a member of the Cross Point Baptist Church.

He is survived by a brother, Morris Newton, Jr., of Chicago Heights, IL, and a sister, Opal Purcell of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 P.M., Monday, April 16, and after 9 A.M., Tuesday, April 17.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
