Evelyn Rose Wells

July 17, 1914 — September 23, 2014

Evelyn Rose Bell Wells, 100, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at her home in Spice Knob with her family by her side. Evelyn was born in Daviess County on July 17, 1914, to the late Allen and Annabelle Clark Bell. She was one of five daughters. The girls walked two miles to a one room school in Ensor, she played piano by ear and all of her family played musical instruments. After marrying, she played the piano at South Hampton Baptist Church for many years. Evelyn's talent in the kitchen equaled her piano playing. She had a big heart and it was a blessing to put your feet under her kitchen table. Evelyn's passing leaves an ache in many hearts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ewing E. Wells, Sr., infant son, James Allen, son, Ewing E. Wells, Jr, granddaughter, Jana VanParys, great-granddaughter, Hadley Hadden, and four sisters, Suella Poole, Virginia Gist, Anna Reid Unsel, and Betty Chandler.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Ruth (Don) Miller, a son, Ronnie (Susan) Wells, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, Yellow Creek Baptist Church or South Hampton Baptist Church.
