Evelyn Laswell

Evelyn Harris Laswell, 92, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2015. Born in Dumas, MS, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Velma Childers Hodges, Mrs. Laswell was an active member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and its Mary Lou Phillips Sunday school class. She had served as Chief Deputy Clerk under former Judge T.B. Birkhead before pursuing a successful career in real estate with Wagner Shuck Realty. She was also preceded in death by her husbands Guy B. Harris and Thomas C. Laswell, Jr., her sisters Ailene Outlaw and Mary Ruth McCluskey, and her brother, J.M. Alexander.
She leaves behind her son Eddy B. Harris and his wife Charlotte, of Owensboro; her grandsons Guy B. (Rhonda) Harris, II of Mt. Juliet, TN and Donnie Harris of Vincennes; her granddaughter Candy (Adam) Watson of Manchester, TN; her great-grandsons Guy B. Harris, III, Luke Edward Harris, and Jared Anderson; her granddaughters Carmen Anderson and Alison Elmore, and her great-great-grandson William Roark Harris, all of Tennessee; her special friend and assistant Debbie Howard; along with many relatives and loved ones in Mississippi.
She enjoyed her life with her special friends at Fern Terra and her family wishes to extend their gratitude to them, the staff at Fern Terra, and to her caregivers for their love and kindness,
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Darren Brandon, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m.Saturday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
