Evelyn F. Johnson

Evelyn F. Johnson, 66, of Philpot, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Heartford House. She was born in Daviess County to the late Oda and Maud Ambrose Chapman, was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a Certified Public Accountant. Evelyn worked as controller of Tapscott's Incorporated, was an avid genealogist researching the Ambrose and Ware families, and enjoyed reading. She had also amassed a wonderful collection of over 1000 dolls and spent much of her time sewing doll clothing and quilts.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Garrett (Rod) Johnson; daughter, Beth Johnson and her husband Joel Northwall of St. Louis; grandchildren, Garrett Northwall and Walker Northwall; siblings, Dan Chapman and his wife Betty of Louisville, Ken Chapman and his wife Carol of Bowling Green and Jean Chapman of Habit; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held at Noon on Tuesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Evelyn F. Johnson Memorial Scholarship at Transylvania University.
