Evelyn Cox Duncan

Evelyn C. Duncan, 87, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Owensboro, a daughter of the late George C. Cox and Irene Belle Hudson Cox, she graduated from Owensboro High School and began her 44 year career at General Electric, from which she retired as group leader in tube development. For over 50 years she had been an active member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church where she had taught children's Sunday school, sung in the choir and been a member of the Lula Townsley Sunday school class and United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur C. Duncan, in 1992, her brothers, Cletus Cox, William Cox, Paul Cox, Bobby Cox, and Charles Cox and her sisters Clara Margaret "Toots" Alexander and Shirley Jean Cox.

Mrs. Duncan is survived by her children, Stephen N. Duncan and his wife Tracy, and Mary D. Duncan, all of Owensboro; her grand-children, Pamela Clark (Quentin) of Ogden, KS, Seth Duncan (Jessica) of Masonville, and Patricia Ellis (Brandon) of Huntington, WV; her great-grandchildren, Isabella Clark, Taylor Duncan, and Jak Ellis; and her sisters, Georgia Dantic and Doris Bennett (Charles) of Owensboro.

The funeral service for Mrs. Duncan, officiated by Rev. Pete Coble, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church
