Evelyn Benningfield Saltzman, 82, of Owensboro, KY passed away August 24, 2016 while surrounded by her family. Born January 28, 1934 to the late Weldon and Dessie Sutton, Evelyn worked hard through her life raising 5 boys after the death of her first husband. She worked at General Electric, Gunther's Furniture, and was the Bookkeeper at Bowen Tire, where she retired. Evelyn was a long time member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church and at the age of 12, she gave her life to Christ. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Lee Benningfield Jr.; second husband, Remus E. Saltzman; brother, Truman Sutton, and sister, Linda Sutton Fogle.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, William Benningfield (Judy), Richard Benningfield and his former wife, Cathy Benningfield Braden; Roy Benningfield (Charlotte), Phil Benningfield, Eddie Benningfield; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara West (LaVega) and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be noon Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in McLean County, KY. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of both Millers Merry Manor and Heart to Heart Hospice for their love and care they shared with Evelyn and the family during this time.
