Eva Christine Herron Welsh, 88, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Wellington Parc. Born in Hopkins County on September 16, 1920, Mrs. Welsh was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Lola Barnes Herron and worked many years as a school crossing guard and at the Ken-Rad and Mr. Wiggs. She was a 60-year member of Third Baptist Church where she was very active in the AFC Sunday School Class and the Senior Adults Group with which she and her late husband, Joseph F. Welsh, Sr., traveled to New York on a mission trip to refurbish a church. Mrs. Welsh was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Herron.
She is survived by her four children, Judy (Bob) Ferlis of Arlington, VA, Nita A. Burg , Joey Welsh and Janie (Jerry) Kessinger all of Owensboro; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Herron and Jerry Herron of Mt Vernon, IN; and sisters, Rosa Lewis and Janet Mitchell of Mt Vernon, IN and Margie Laws of Cleveland, OH.
Services are 12 noon Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. James Byrd officiating followed by entombment in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.on Friday and after 10 a.m.on Saturday.
