Eva M. Hamilton Barnes

Eva M. Hamilton Barnes, 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 14, 1914 in Hartford, KY to the late Gertie and Bessie Elenor Taylor Hamilton. She was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church where she attended the Class of Ruth Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union. She was retired as a telephone operator with Pacific Bell and Indiana Bell and also worked for the U. S. Government for a period of time. Eva enjoyed crocheting and canning vegetables. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Silas A. Barnes on May 25, 2003, two sisters, Leona Warren and Mary Gertrude Evans Westerfield, and a brother, Elmer Lee Hamilton.

Surviving are six nieces and nephews, Sandra (Jerry) Bradley of Owensboro, Mary Margaret (Paul) Alvey of Sheperdsville, James Ronald (Christene) Evans of Hartford, Lou Anne (Mike) Colburn of Elkton, Cecilia (Randy) Powers of Island, and Charlene (Ken) Vigue of Hawesville.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday until time of service.
