Eunice Kathleen Quander Taylor

July 4, 1916 — April 5, 2003

Eunice Kathleen Quander Taylor, 86, of 2711 Hwy 140E, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at her residence. The Washington, DC native was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church here and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington. She was a homemaker and loved music. Mrs. Taylor is a direct decendent of the oldest African-American Family (Quander) in the United States tracing her roots to 1100 A.D. in Ghana, West Africa. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Robert Taylor, in August 2002.

She is survived by three children, William Quander Taylor of Washington, DC, Eunice Taylor Bell of Utica, and Robert Michael Taylor of Ft. Washington, MD; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Claudia O. Ellis of Silver Spring, MD and Jennie Q. Henderson of Washington, DC.

Funeral services are Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington with burial in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. Friends may call at the Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro from 2 to 8 P.M. on Monday, April 7, 2003 and at the Pope Funeral Home in Washington, DC on Saturday, April 12, 2003. Prayers will be said at Glenn Funeral Home at 7 P.M. on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, KY 42301.
