Eulah May “Judy” Wells Deane, of Owensboro, journeyed home to her Lord on Friday, Jan 24, 2025. She was born in Livia, KY, on Aug 8, 1927, to the late Otho Wells and Elizabeth Owen of McLean County, Kentucky. Judy is the wife of the late Reverend Dr. Guy M. Deane, Jr. Early in her career, Judy worked at General Electric, where she worked on vacuum and radio tubes, in Owensboro; however, her life-long career was serving as a Pastor’s wife in a variety of mission fields across eastern and western Kentucky, as well as many local churches. A devoted Christian, she often served as the Church Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, WMU leader, and various other roles in each church she and her husband served. She will always be remembered as someone always ready with a warm smile, kind heart, positive demeanor, and a commitment and passion for service to others.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Donald Clark Deane; a sister, Laura Wells Barnett and brothers, Kenton Wells, Adrian Wells, and Carol Wells.
Left to honor Judy’s memory, she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Deane Staples; sister, Marjorie Welborn; and grandchildren, Robert Keith Floyd, William Bradley Floyd, Brian Deane Floyd, Amber Renee Deane, Donald Deane, Jr., and Stephanie Caraway; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces, and brother-in-law Silas Deane.
The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the staff at Calumet Trace for the exceptional care she received. The family also expresses sincere gratitude to Irene Brumley for her warm kindness, care, and friendship with Judy for many years.
Services will be held at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, Jan 29. Visitation will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM, with the service following at 12 noon. Rev. Paul Strahan of First Baptist Church in Owensboro will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
