Eugene "Joe" Dennis

Eugene "Joe" Dennis, 76, of Owensboro passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mr. Dennis was born June 23, 1941 in Clarkson, KY to the late Lucian Henry Dennis and Cleo Patrick Clark Dennis. He retired as a maintenance supervisor of Swedish Match Company and also was a Safety Engineer for Safetran Systems Corporation. Joe was a member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge 878, 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rites, Ritzpah Shrine Temple and Owensboro Shrine Clowns. He enjoyed spending time at Rough River Lake, gardening, football, UK basketball, NASCAR, bird watching and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary L. Dennis; sister, LaVerne Robinson (Jerry) of Hardinsburg; brother, W.P. Dennis (Sharon) of Harned; children, Timothy Gene Dennis (Cheryl) of Louisville, Thomas Wayne Dennis (Kathy) of Florala, Alabama, James Theodore Dennis (Penny) of Louisville, and Mary Kathleen McDaniel (Darren) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Delana Nicole Kennedy, Shawn Michael Dennis, Sara Oleta Heun, James Nicholas Dennis, and Emmily Elaine Dennis; and three great-grandchildren, Ella Louise Dennis, Gage Michael Dennis, and Liam David Heun.

Services will be 10 am Tuesday, November 28 at Glenn Funeral Home Crematory. Visitation will be from 3 until 7pm Monday with the Masonic Memorial Service at 6:30 pm and Tuesday after 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
