Eugene Charles Clemens Jr., 87, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2024 at the Carmel Home. Eugene was born to the late Eugene Charles and Wilma Cassidy Clemens on July 5, 1936, in Cannelton, IN. Gene was a graduate of Cannelton High School and the University of Evansville. From a young age, he worked in his family's business, Cantex Sewer Pipe Company, operating in Cannelton, and he ran the Owensboro office from 1961 to 1981. Gene also cherished working alongside his wife, Jennie, at The Trophy House. Gene's dedication to his community was evident through his involvement in countless local organizations. A long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Gene found joy in listening to the word of God.
Family was of the utmost importance to Gene. He never missed his children's games and events, a tradition he continued with his grandchildren. He loved family gatherings and was often found at the grill while his grandchildren swam. Gene also had a great love for fishing and playing golf.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 64 years Jennie Lou Clemens; three wonderful sons, Nicholas Charles Clemens (Paula), Michael Eugene Clemens (Jayne), and Randolph Alan Clemens (Heather); grandchildren, J. Michael Clemens (Susannah), Mary Katherine White (Jordan), Mary Keaton Jackson (Tyler), Cecilia Anne Clemens, Sarah Beth Lewis (Lance), and Nicholas Randolph Clemens, and great-grandchildren Norah Katherine Jackson, Thomas Alan Jackson, and Raymond Clemens White.
The funeral Mass for Eugene Clemens will be at 11 am Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of Mass at the church. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
