Euba Caraway Organ

Euba Caraway Organ, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on April 1, 2012 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Owensboro to the late Dan H. and Lila B. Caraway and spent her childhood in Calhoun, Kentucky.

She graduated from Calhoun High School and went on to study at Kentucky Wesleyan College where she earned a degree in mathematics. Her Master's Degree in Education and Mathematics was earned at Western Kentucky University before she attained Rank One Certification in Educational Supervision and Curriculum Development as part of her post graduate work.

Mrs. Organ was a high school mathematics teacher in the Owensboro Public School System for thirty one years. During that period she served as Mathematics Department Chair of Owensboro High School for twenty years until her retirement in 1992.

She was recent member of First Christian Church where she was a member of the FaHaLo Sunday School Class. She had also been an active and longtime member of Century Christian Church where she served as a deacon, committee chair and as an ordained elder for eight years.

Euba enjoyed family and friends, classical and piano music, reading and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William C. Organ in 1995; her parents; a half-brother, Emil "Buster" Sandefur in 1941; a grandson, S. Chad Hudson in 1978; great grandchildren, Matthew Gossett, Jr. in 2007 and Lily Grace in 2011.

Euba is survived by her sons, Dan H. Austin (Laurie) and Charles L. Austin (Karen), both of Utica; step-daughter, Linda O. Cox (Randy) of Livermore; grandchildren, Shanna L. Austin, Amanda F. Austin, Erica L. Austin, Malarie M. Beauchamp, Andrew J. Austin, Derek C. Austin, Kayla N. Austin, Leslie A. Geary (Shannon) and Crystal C. Randolph (Adam); great grandchildren, J. Caleb Harmon and Audrey E. Randolph.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Jake Caldwell and Rev. Jim Westmoreland will officiate. Entombment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Owensboro-Daviess County Humane Society.
